Itinerary

Day 1: Arrival in Karachi

Upon your arrival at Islamabad International Airport, the Karakoram Mountain Experts team will greet you and transfer you to your hotel. After some rest, we gather for a briefing at the Ministry of Tourism to finalize permits. We end the day with a welcome dinner at the Monal Restaurant, overlooking the city lights from the Margalla Hills.

Day 2: Thatta & Makli Necropolis

We drive to the UNESCO site of Makli, one of the largest funerary sites in the world. We also visit the Shah Jahan Mosque in Thatta, a 17th-century masterpiece with 93 domes designed for perfect acoustics. Return to Karachi for the night.

Day 3: Karachi to Larkana

A short morning flight takes us to Sukkur/Larkana. We begin our deep dive into history at Mohenjo-Daro. You will walk through the “Great Bath,” the residential quarters, and the sophisticated drainage channels that define this 2500 BC metropolis. Overnight in Larkana.

Day 4: Kot Diji & Sukkur

We visit Kot Diji, a site that provides a crucial link to the pre-Harappan era. The massive fort sits atop a hill, overlooking the ruins of an ancient town. Later, we head to Sukkur to see the British-era Sukkur Barrage and take a boat on the Indus to the Sadh Belo island temple.

Day 5: Sukkur to Bahawalpur

A scenic drive north into the Punjab province. We stop at Uch Sharif, an ancient city founded by Alexander the Great, to see the breathtaking, blue-tiled Tomb of Bibi Jawindi. We reach Bahawalpur, the former princely state, by evening.

Day 6: Derawar Fort & Cholistan Desert

We head into the Cholistan Desert to witness the 40 massive bastions of Derawar Fort. We explore the royal graveyards of the Nawabs of Bahawalpur and enjoy the desert sunset before returning to the city.

Day 7: Multan – The City of Saints

A short drive to Multan, one of the oldest living cities in the world. We spend the afternoon at the spectacular shrines of Shah Rukn-e-Alam and Bahauddin Zakariya, marveling at the vibrant Multani blue pottery and architecture.

Day 8: Harappa to Lahore

We depart for Lahore, stopping en route at Harappa. While much of the city was unfortunately scavenged for railway ballast in the 1800s, the remaining structures and the excellent on-site museum provide a vivid picture of Harappan life. Arrival in Lahore for a traditional dinner on Food Street.

Day 9: Mughal Grandeur in Lahore

Today we explore the “Heart of Pakistan.” We visit the Lahore Fort (Shahi Qila) and the iconic Badshahi Mosque. In the afternoon, we visit the Lahore Museum, which holds a world-class collection of Indus Valley and Gandharan artifacts.

Day 10: Khewra Salt Mines & Islamabad

We drive toward the capital, stopping at the Khewra Salt Mines, the second-largest in the world, discovered by Alexander the Great’s horse! Upon arrival in Islamabad, we visit the Faisal Mosque at the foot of the Margalla Hills.

Day 11: Taxila & Departure

Our final historical stop is Taxila, a UNESCO site where the Indus Civilization transitioned into the Persian, Greek, and Buddhist eras. We explore the Julian Monastery and the Sirkap ruins. Transfer to Islamabad International Airport for your flight home.
